For the Learning to Love you More project I
decided to do "re-read your favorite book from 5th grade". I chose to
re-read Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase since that's the book series that I
recall reading back then. At first, I was surprised by how small the book was.
I could have sworn it was at least twice it's size. The next thing I noticed
when reading it was the odd family dynamics of the whole thing. Nancy and her
friends had to ask their fathers before they could do anything, even just go
out and they were 18 years old. I found it odd that Nancy is this serious
detective and what you could call a power house woman but that's all swept
under the rug in a way because her dad could always say 'no you can't take this
job'. I didn't notice that so much when I was younger and it was probably
because I even still asked my father if I could go outside and play or
whatever, but now it seems kind of ridiculous.
